ANSWERS:

Is Tank One within the “Los Angeles 30-mile Studio Zone”? Yes.

What city is Tank One Located in? Tank One is located in the city of Signal Hill which is just south of the 405 in the Long Beach area of Los Angeles.

What is the size and dimensions of Tank One? Tank One is a 290,000 gallon, above ground, circular water tank. It is 50’ft. wide x 16’ft. high.

Is the Tank indoor or outdoor? Outdoor.

Was Tank One built specifically for underwater filming? Yes. Tank One is a custom built underwater filming stage built specifically for motion picture, television, commercial, music and print photography production.

Can the water in Tank One be heated and filtered? Yes. Tank One is equipped with state-of-the-art heating and filtration systems.  Water heating is not mandatory. Depending on the time of year, weather and recent heating, the  standing “As Is” water temperature can vary. If water heating is required or requested by the production, unlike other facilities, there are no rental fees for the use of the tank heaters or filters. The production company simply purchases the propane gas for the heaters directly from the supplier at a reduced Tank One special wholesale price (Tank One does not profit from this). Prep days may be necessary to heat the water to desired temperature.

What is the optimum water temperature for actors or models that are not in wetsuits and will be in the water for long periods of time? 87-92 degrees.

Do you have a Hot Tub/Jacuzzi for actors and models to stay warm in during takes? Yes. Tank One has added a new Hot Tub/Jacuzzi area at platform level for easy access.

How clear is the water?  Tank One has a state-of-the-art filtration system that can create water so clear that when standing at the water’s edge a quarter’s face can be read as it sits on the bottom. It’s high-tech water filtration system filters water to an amazing 3 microns of clarity.

What if we need the water to look like an river, lake or ocean? At Tank One the clarity of the water can be changed to match any ocean or river, lake or desired setting.

When the tank is drained, can it be used for anything else? Yes. Let us know your location needs.

When not being used is the tank filled? Yes. Generally we keep the tank filled and ready for last minute clients.

How much time does it take to fill/empty the tank? To fill: Approx 37 hours. To empty: Approx 25 hours.

What color are the interior tank walls? Can they be painted? The tank walls are finished with black epoxy. They can be painted to any color or design as long as they are painted back to black using approved epoxy paint.


What is the tank/water access? Tank One has an elevated access platform around the top of the tank.

How do you get large/heavy set pieces into the tank? Forklift and crane access is available directly adjacent to tank.

Is there a staging area for trucks and equipment? An approx. 70’ft. x 80’ft. staging area exists directly adjacent to the tank. Additional staging/parking is available at adjacent property. Separate fee.

Are production rooms available? Yes.

Is there a compressor available for filling scuba tanks? No. Production company supplied.

Is there a crane available? No. Production company supplied.

Is there a green screen?  No. Production company supplied.

What is the lighting source?  Production company supplied.

Does Tank One provide power for my equipment?  No. Production company supplies all power for their own equipment. Tank One provides power for tank heaters and filters. (Small fee required)

Are there wash & bathroom facilities?  Production company supplied.

How much lead time do you need to prep the tank for a shoot (i.e. if I phoned today needing it tomorrow, could it happen)? We recommend 24-48 hours advanced notice with Insurance and Deposit.

Do I need a film permit for shooting at Tank One? No, not unless you create a need by parking on or blocking the street outside the facility.

Are there any filming restrictions or sound ordinances? No. Tank One is available 24/7. There are no filming restrictions or sound ordinances.

What are the insurance requirements? Production company must provide an insurance certificate naming Tank One and its employees as additionally insured. Call for mandatory insurance requirements.

What else is Tank One available for? Whenever Tank One is not booked for normal shoots we can make it available for Law Enforcement Training, Diver Training, Public Service Works, School Tours, Student Film Productions, etc.
